Travel Information
From Shanghai to Ningbo by train or coach (please also see the page ‘A car to meet you’)
Shanghai has 2 airports – Shanghai Pudong Airport mainly for international flights and Shanghai Hongqiao Airport mainly for domestic flights. There is a distance of about 50kms and a one hour drive between the 2 airports. Internal flights do occasionally leave from Shanghai Pudong Airport.
By coach
On arriving at Shanghai Pudong Airport, you should transfer to Shanghai South Railway/Bus Station first which takes 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic conditions. There are two options:

From Pudong International Airport to Shanghai South Railway/Bus Station

From Shanghai South Railway/Bus Station to Pudong International Airport
Operating Hours: 6:50~21:30
Interval: 30 minutes Fare: 20 RMB

The Airport Bus Line No. 7 drops you right outside the Shanghai South Railway/Bus station. The ticket from Shanghai to Ningbo can be bought at South Bus Station. The trip takes 2.5-3.5 hours depending on traffic through Hangzhou Bay Bridge (Hángzhōuwān Dàqiáo 杭州湾大桥), the longest sea crossing bridge in the world.

By train
Transfer from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Shanghai South Railway/Bus Station first as mentioned above. It takes about 4 hours by train from Shanghai to Ningbo.

On arriving in Ningbo
We recommend that you take taxi from Ningbo airport/train/bus station to the University. It takes about 30 minutes and cost 25RMB – 40RMB. Please ignore any people on the street trying to offer you a lift as they will charge far more than normal taxis and may be unsafe. There is a taxi queue at the entrance to the bus station, just across the road from the train station. Please show the address below:

Taxi tips in Ningbo:
You will need to add 1rmb to the fare shown on the meter for a fuel charge.
If you are travelling by train, when you walk out of the train station walk to your right. There are some steps/an escalator under a covered entry which take you underground. When you get to the bottom turn right and keep going. You will see a taxi rank which is a good place to get a taxi.
