I am impressed! IMECHE China Mainland Finals
Yeasterday I watched the Speak Out for Engineering Presentation Competition (for more information on the event click here ).
The three UNNC Science & Engineering students delivered absolutely fantastic presentations in the contest’s China Mainland Finals. Unfortunately none of them won the competition. However, the jury announced that it was an extremely close call.
A second point, that made me quite proud is the choice of topics of our UNNC students:
- - Wind and Windturbines
- - Low Carbon Technologies
- - Aerodynamics in Formula 1
The first two are directly related to green engineering. The third one, though related to Formula 1 (cannot really be green, can it?), highlighted the potential the advanced technologies employed in Formula 1 have on reducing the draft of ‘normal’ cars leading to reduced fuel consumption.
Below you can see pictures I took, proving that the students did not only describe the need and relevance of ‘green technologies’ but also explained them and their application very well.
Personally, I probably would have chosen the second place over the first place. Then again, I have taught the student s so one might argue I am biased…

Dr. Tietje
I have watched this match. I think our students’ English, presentation skill and question handling are much better than the two students from the agricultural university. But why we didn’t get the first prize?
Dear Robert,
Unfortunately I cannot give you an answer to your question as I was not involved in the decision making process.
